Ne’er Such A thing

by Rada Nastai

ne’er such a thing brings together artists Rada Nastai (Berlin) and Freya Brooke Verona Copeland (Valencia) in a photographic correspondence born from shared experiences of displacement and loss. Expanding on their artbook of the same name, the exhibition unfolds as an installation where memory, literature, and image blur into one another. Drawing from archival and personal photographs, Nastai and Copeland stitch together fragments of absence and recovery, using photography not as documentation but as material—layered, erased, and transformed. Monumental riso-printed grids, anthotypes, and dyed cotton works create an environment where light scars more than it illuminates, leaving ghostly impressions of what once was. Structured in chapters—from terra incognita to tools for survival and the illusion of self-recovery—the exhibition leads viewers through a meditation on what it means to be lost, found, and remade, balancing fragility and weight in equal measure.
