Publisher Superbloom x Secret Riso Club

Nails by Secret Riso Club and Superblooom* details the origins of the Vietnamese nail salon in the United States. Inspired by the momentous research done by Adele Pham in her documentary, "Nailed It", we wanted to share the legacy of salon pioneers Charli Vo and Olivett Robinson as a story of intercommunity friendship that has become a living example of what solidarity between women-of-color can build.

By examining the artistry and labor behind nail work, Nails challenges preconceived notions of what constitutes meaningful cultural and artistic contributions. By highlighting the craft of nail artwork and modern nail technicians, Nails seeks to subvert the traditional hyper-masculine aesthetics in radical spaces and provides a newer perspective on what resistance, community, and solidarity can look like.
