Printmaking as Collective Action

Creativity Lab / MOMA

This installation explored how artists have used printmaking to build community and inspire collective action, both within studio settings and in their surrounding neighborhoods. New York-based printmaking collectives—Secret Riso Club, Mobile Print Power, and the Rafael Tufiño Printmaking Workshop at Taller Boricua—activated the Creativity Lab at MoMA for 6 months through a series of installations and free printmaking workshops. Visitors engaged with resources curated by SRC to learn about the history of printmaking, reflect on the values important to their communities, and create posters that served as calls for collective change.
