“In the studio of the artist's residency I'm at, I have about 15 m2 to myself. The room is a bit tubular in shape and I catch myself thinking: if it were laid out differently I could retain a better distance from the walls and be able to look at my work properly. My work, I imagine, could finally take on bigger formats again. I brought my watercolors. They sit neatly in the otherwise empty cabinet that belongs to my studio. I also brought my coveralls. They are olive green and fit my skin tone. I'm wearing them as I add up all the pages I've read since I got here: The Idiot: 423 pages; Geile Deko: 133: Modern Love: 219; Class, Queers and the Avant Garde: 5; We are made of Diamond Stuff: 105. 885 pages in total. It's a satisfying number. Enough to compensate for the brushstrokes I'm not about to make.”
