Palestine Online
A project by Amad Ansari
Published by Secret Riso Club
Palestine Online is an archive project compiling websites created by Palestinians primarily from the late 90s to early 2000s. For Palestinians, this time period saw the intersection of the Second Intifada and the early proliferation of Web 1.0. A lot of the websites included here showcase the emerging internet as a global platform for Palestinians to express themselves, share their culture, preserve their history, advocate for their liberation, and memorialize their martyrs. This grassroots usage of the WWW is predictive of the internet today as a platform for Palestinians to broadcast the occupatio and genocide they face, and counter biased and disparaging narratives from political leaders and news outlets.
In the face of coordinated mass destruction and erasure by the Zionist regime, Palestine Online acknowledges the importance of preserving Palestinian memory, evidence, and history in places that might otherwise be discarded or overlooked.
