A Strange Flower Has Bloomed

Miki Kim
Hand Saw Press

This is the first collection of Risograph illustrations by Miki Kim, an illustrator and tattoo artist based in Seoul, Korea. Her artwork, which combines cuteness, eerieness, and allure, is powerful and full of love, captivating.
Miki Kim's drawings are characterized by their thin lines. Reproducing these lines using Risograph technology was difficult, and it took seven months of trial and error to achieve a look that was as close to the original as possible. As this is her first collection of Risograph work, it includes both illustrations and tattoos. Miki says she doesn't start out by thinking, "This will become a tattoo." Just as digital drawings are applied to human skin to become tattoos, this book's encounter with Risograph technology has transformed it into an even warmer expression.
